Case 3 (12231): Breast Implant Problems / Correction / Revision
This 55 year old woman had problems with her silicone gel breast implants, placed 17 years earlier; they had hardened (capsular contracture). They were uncomfortably firm to the touch. They were not natural hugging or lying on her tummy. They had an unusual fullness across the upper breast area. There was no sign of gel leakage and mammograms were normal. Dr. Graham suggested removal and saline implant replacement, and capsulectomy (removal of the hard capsule around the implants). During out-patient surgery through a small lower areolar incision the entire calcified capsule was removed. The old 220ml silicone gel implants were removed and replaced with 255ml saline implants, with subpectoral repositioning. She recovered well and had no sign of hardening. "I love it. I was impressed from beginning to end. Everything about the experience was professional." She will "absolutely" refer patients to Dr. Graham in the future.
